Ted Axton – A very knowledgeable horseman who is able to tailor his teaching to all levels and skills of students and disiplines.I have seen him teach Western, Dressage and Hunter students at Sunflower Farms. The common thread is that he is a great horseman, no matter what disipline he works with.

It’s one thing to be able to say you idolize your father. It’s another to be be able to see why you idolize him everyday of your life. His drive, his energy, his humor, his heart, his relationships, his love for his family, and lastly his passion for horses. I hope one day to be one tenth of the person he is. I already know I have his passion for horses, since it all started 14 years ago, because of one riding lesson. I now get to say I have the pleasure of working side by side with my father and some great horses, whether it be young horses, old horses, weanlings or foals. Every time I see him work with a horse it’s fascinating. He puts every ounce of attention and energy into teaching that horse, hoping he can help the horse in same way or another. I am thankful to be able to do what I do, work with horses. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his love, guidance and help. He has the heart to help any horse, for whoever gets the opportunity to work with him should forever be thankful they got the chance. I love him with all my heart and couldn’t be more proud to call him my father and fellow horse person.

I have been taking lessons with Ted Axton for a couple of years and I have progressed consistently with his assistance. He individualizes his lessons to not only the horse’s needs, but also the rider’s needs. He creates a safe environment where the student feels able to step out of their comfort zone and try different approaches. I am a level 3 Parelli student and have taken many lessons with many different instructors over the years, but Ted Axton has been one of the most influential instructors on my path.
